Janis Heller is a proud native New Yorker. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Long Island University-Post and a Master's degree in Social Work from New York University. While taking time off from her career in social work to raise her daughter, Heller started substitute teaching and discovered her true passion—teaching young children. She went back to school and obtained a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Hunter College. Heller has substitute taught grades K-12, was an associate kindergarten teacher and a third grade teacher. She has taught in public, private and charter schools in NYC.
When she is not teaching, Heller loves spending time with her family and friends. She is a life-long learner who enjoys reading, traveling and NYC adventures. She is committed to sharing and creating new adventures with her first graders and instilling in them a love of learning.
