Grade 3 Co-Teacher
Maulana Dorce is a New York born, first generation, Haitian. Born and raised in Queens, NY she has also lived in Atlanta, GA and Milton, MA. She regularly travels to Haiti to visit family and volunteer, and is fluent in Haitian Kreyol. Dorce has studied Special Education and Early Childhood Education at Curry College and American Studies with a focus on Race and Ethnicity at Wheelock College. Her past work experience is in Early Childhood Education settings and she has also worked in policy analysis for the Massachusetts Senate Education Committee and Orleans Parish Juvenile Court in Louisiana.
Dorce is passionate about service teaching and learning on a national and international level and has taught and worked with children in West Africa and Haiti. She believes that one of the best ways to learn is through experiences with and engagement in one’s local and global community. Dorce is a volunteer at Gigi’s Playhouse, a play space for children with Down syndrome and annually participates in the Buddy Walk to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
