Robert A. Hughes, a native of Houston, TX, holds degrees from the University of St. Thomas (BA) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music (MM). Mr. Hughes taught general music in Kansas City, MO for 6 years at the charter school, Scuola Vita Nuova (School of New Life).
As a choral artist, Mr. Hughes has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Extra Chorus for 6 seasons. He has performed at such renowned institutions as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the David H. Koch Theatre, Temple Emanu-El, the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Lincoln Center Festival, the Caramoor Festival.
As an opera soloist, Mr. Hughes has performed at Regina Opera, the Bronx Opera Theatre, Di Capo Opera Theatre, Little Opera Company of New York, Long Leaf Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, Opera in the Heights, Houston Ebony Opera Guild, Civic Opera Theatre of Kansas City, Abyssinian Baptist Church, Church of St. Charles Borromeo and the Washington Square Park Music Festival.
Mr. Hughes directs the teaches voice lessons and Children’s Choir at the Harlem School of the Arts.
