Class 2C Protects the Planet

In honor of Earth Day, the students of class 2C created posters and went on a community walk in an effort to raise awareness about environmental issues. Along the way, students helped clean up the area around our school and recycled plastic bottles and cans. Thank you class 2C for helping to protect the planet!

En honor al Día de la Tierra, los estudiantes de la clase 2C crearon carteles y emprendieron una caminata comunitaria en un esfuerzo por crear conciencia sobre temas ambientales. En el camino, los estudiantes ayudaron a limpiar el área alrededor de nuestra escuela y reciclaron botellas de plástico y latas. ¡Gracias clase 2C por ayudar a proteger el planeta!

Kindergarten Celebrates Spring

Our kindergartners celebrated spring by planting flower bulbs in our school garden. Over the coming weeks and months, these flowers will grow and blossom—just like our students! Thank you to Mr. Rivera and Mr. Quijada for helping our kindergartners plant their flowers!

Third Grade Learns About Economics

As part of their PYP theme “How We Organize Ourselves” our third grade students have been exploring “the interconnectedness of human-made systems and communities“ by studying “economic activities and their impact on humankind and the environment.” Our third graders were visited by Sal Maglietta, Executive Vice President for Corporate Banking at U.S. Bank, who spoke about supply-and-demand, natural resources, and needs versus wants. Our students were fascinated by the systems and structures that shape our everyday lives! Thank you to Mr. Maglietta for speaking to our students and to Ms. DeJesus for helping to organize the event!

Como parte del tema de PYP "Cómo nos organizamos nosotros mismos", nuestros estudiantes de tercer grado han estado explorando "la interconexión de sistemas y comunidades humanas" estudiando "las actividades económicas y su impacto en la humanidad y el medio ambiente". Hoy nos visito el Sr. Sal Maglietta, Vicepresidente Ejecutivo de Banca Corporativa de US Bank, quien habló sobre la provicion y la demanda, los recursos naturales y las necesidades frente a los deseos. Nuestros estudiantes estaban fascinados por los sistemas y estructuras que dan forma a nuestra vida cotidiana! ¡Gracias al Sr. Maglietta por hablar con nuestros estudiantes ya la Sra. Exploring "Where We Are in Space and Time" at the Freedom Tower

As part of their PYP theme “Where We are in Place and Time” our second grade students have been exploring “the discoveries, explorations, and migrations of human kind” by studying the ways in which New York City has changed over time. Second graders visited the Freedom Tower in Lower Manhattan to experience the history and transformations of New York City firsthand. Our students were amazed by the incredible changes that have shaped our city!

Como parte del tema de PYP "Dónde estamos en el lugar y en el tiempo", nuestros estudiantes de segundo grado han estado explorando "los descubrimientos, exploraciones y migraciones de personas" estudiando las formas en que la ciudad de Nueva York ha cambiado con el tiempo. Los estudiantes de segundo grado visitaron la Torre de la Libertad en el Bajo Manhattan para experimentar la historia y las transformaciones de Nueva York de primera mano. ¡Nuestros estudiantes se sorprendieron por los increíbles cambios que han dado forma a nuestra ciudad!
